Mayberry Farms is a dryland grain farm located in Nunn, Colorado.  The farm is being run by the third generation and we are raising the fourth.  The farm changed directions in 2017 toward Regenerative Farming.  This is a focus on soil health and biodiversity.  Through our transition we incorporated the use of cattle on our farm.  We purchased a small herd of Dexter Cattle from an Aunt and Uncle who had breed the herd for grass fed beef.  The cattle are used to generate profit from our cover crop plants as well as improve the soil through biology and manure.  The cows get a very diverse diet of plants, which improves the nutrient density of the beef.  They also get to live a wonderful life out on the prairie roaming as nature intended.

We are early on our journey to regenerative farming, if you would like to learn more, please visit our farm website at www.mayberryfarmsllc.com.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Grass-Fed Beef?

Our cattle eat grass and other plants from the field and are supplemented with hay in the winter as the need arises.  Much of the beef purchased in stores is grain fed to more quickly fatten the animal.

How much does it cost?

You can visit Our Beef -hyperlink to page page for a breakdown of costs.  A half share of a Dexter Beef will be between $1,000 and $1200.  A half share of an Angus Beef will be between $1,650 and $1,900.  Different breeds of cattle are different sizes and depending on the age of the beef and the individual beef, size varies.
